From Helen Ellis Tells the Writing Business Like It Is
Can you support yourself as a novelist? Is this something one can expect right away?
No. And, absolutely not. While Stephen King and Nora Roberts do a pretty good job of it, most writers do not. When I started writing, I thought I could support myself on writing alone. I could not. Still can’t. But, I think you have to believe that you can. You have to have and keep hold of that youthful ignorance and bravado to write books at all. – for more Q&A visit Wattpad

From Behind the shape-shifting novel, The Turning
What was the inspiration behind writing the shape-shifting novel, The Turning?

From The Book Scout
In what ways do you relate to Mary, your main character?
Mary is a high school student, which is an age in my life I remember quite well. A secret nobody will tell you, but I will: for the rest of your natural born days you are in high school. – for more Q&A visit The Book Scout
From The Longstockings
If you and your main character hung out for the day, what would you do?
Honestly, if Mary and I hung out, I would do with her what I do with my good friend’s teenage daughter: get her into a rated R movie (most recently, The Runaways), have lunch, and just talk. And most importantly, listen. – for more Q&A visit The Longstockings

Who are some of your favorite authors?
Today, I’ll give you two: Ann Napolitano, author of Within Arms Reach and A Good Hard Look (2011), and Hannah Tinti, author of Animal Crackers and The Good Thief. I met them in graduate school and they have been my writing workshop for nearly fifteen years. Their writing makes me write better. Their friendship makes me a better writer. – for more Q&A visit Mundie Moms
